So, when you open REM now, you get the message "error creating spreadsheet dialog", and then REM closes?
This problem is rare, but we have seen it a few times before.
- The Farpoint Spread ActiveX control is the file FPSPR70.ocx.
- Verify that you have the file FPSPR70.ocx in the folder C:WINDOWSsystem32
- Verify that you have the file FPSPR70.ocx in the folder C:WINDOWSsystem32
- For 64-bit operating systems the folder is: “C:\Windows\SysWOW64”.
To see it, you may have to show hidden files/extensions in Windows Explorer.
If you don't have the file, copy the one attached to this article into one of the folders listed above. You may have to be logged in with Administrative rights to do so. Exit REM. Then perform one of the following procedures depending on your operating system:

For 32-bit systems:
- Go to menu Start > Run.
- In the dialog box, type: regsvr32 fpspr70.ocx
This is the key to registering Farpoint.
- Click OK. User should get a popup notification.
- Start REM. The Spreadsheet dialog should work.

- Click “Start” and type "cmd" in the search box. The search results should contain a "cmd.exe" item under the "Programs" heading.
- Right-click “cmd.exe” and select “Run as administrator” (even if you are logged on as such). This opens a command prompt.
- Type: cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and hit “Enter”.
- Type: regsvr32 fpspr70.ocx (single space between regsvr32 and fpspr70.ocx
- Click OK. User should get a popup notification.
